Our Legacy
Friends hostel was born seven years ago from a simple conversation between two friends, Ameer Dufesh and Akram Naser. What started as a game of cards turned into an exchange of ideas which led to one important question. Why do so many tourists visit Hebron, but don’t sleep here? This question sparked everything. Together Ameer and Akram saw an opportunity to create something meaningful. Ameer had access to his grandfather’s house, which had stood empty for over twenty years. For three months, they rebuilt the house themselves—powered by hard work, belief, and a shared vision.
Friends Hostel was always meant to be more than a place to sleep- rather a welcoming space where travelers, activists, and visitors from around the world could experience Hebron in an authentic and human way and truly connect with its people, culture, and realities through lived experiences.
Friends Community Center was established by Bilal Dufesh as a result of the experience created by Friends Hostel and the relationships built with international visitors over the years. Through the hostel, he witnessed a growing interest among guests not only to visit Hebron, but to engage with the local community, volunteer, learn, and contribute in meaningful ways. This need led him to create a dedicated and organized space to support this interaction.
Friends Community Center is located in a central and vibrant area in Bab Al-Zawiya – Al-Shallala Street, in the heart of Hebron, Palestine. We are proud to share it with you. Wallah Welcome friends.
